First-hand experience in plastic surgery in Seoul: reviews of three non-professional clinics – kimjongseo, Ruby, and SEHYUN AESTHETIC
During this trip to Seoul for Double eyelid surgery, I spent three days visiting three different clinics. This is not a professional evaluation; rather, it is simply my personal experience and observations as an ordinary consumer during those consultations.
Why were these three companies chosen?
Before setting off, I spent a lot of time researching on local South Korean forums and Chinese communities. Kimjongseo works at a established hospital; Ruby is known for her natural treatment approach, while SEHYUN AESTHETIC is a young doctor who has become very popular on Instagram in recent years. The styles of these three doctors are quite different, making it ideal to compare them.
The first one: Kimjongseo Plastic Surgery
Environmental impression: Located in an established medical aesthetics clinic in Gangnam District, the interior design is more in the traditional medical style. It isn’t as refined as some popular online clinics, but it gives a sense of reliability and stability. There are quite a number of middle-aged Korean women waiting in the waiting area; they are likely regular customers who have been coming here for over a decade.
Consultation experience: The director personally conducted the consultation and communicated in Korean (with Chinese interpretation available). After reviewing photos of my previous failed treatments, he immediately identified the problem as “excessive tissue removal leading to adhesions” and recommended a treatment plan that involved releasing these adhesions and performing fat transplantation. He did not over-promote any additional procedures, which gave me the impression that he was quite practical and down-to-earth.
For reference, the cost of eye repair procedures ranges from approximately 3.5 to 4.5 million Korean won, depending on the specific circumstances during the surgery.
The second one: Ruby Plastic Surgery
Environmental impression: The decoration style is very cozy, with pink being the dominant color, giving it the look of a high-end beauty salon. Soft music is playing in the waiting area, and the nurses are all very gentle. The clientele is clearly younger, with many South Korean girls in their twenties.
In-person consultation experience: The clinic emphasizes a “natural style,” and the director’s aesthetic preferences are indeed quite conservative. When reviewing previous cases, I noticed that the results always looked very “natural” and it was impossible to tell at first glance that the procedures had been performed. However, for my case, which required “reparation,” the director admitted that it would be more challenging and that two surgeries would be necessary.
For reference, the cost of eye repair procedures ranges from approximately 4 to 5 million Korean won, and the total fee may be higher if the treatment is divided into two sessions.
The third one: SEHYUN AESTHETIC Plastic Surgery Center
Environmental impression: It seems to be the most “internet-famous” of the three clinics. The decoration is very modern, with green plants and design-oriented furnishings everywhere. It’s indeed very popular on Instagram; I saw many customers taking photos with their phones in the waiting area.
In-person consultation experience: The director is quite young and has a rather direct way of communicating. He showed me many Before/After pictures, and the results were indeed very noticeable. However, the style was more “internet celebrity-style” – with very distinct Double eyelid surgery lines and significantly enlarged eyes. For me, this looked a bit too exaggerated, and there were also relatively few cases showing the results of corrective procedures.
For reference, the cost of eye repair procedures ranges from approximately 3 million to 3.8 million Korean won, making it the cheapest option among the three providers.
Summary of comparisons among the three companies

My choices and recommendations
In the end, I chose kimjongseo. The main reason was that Revision Surgery carries a higher risk, so I placed more emphasis on the doctor’s experience and ability to handle complex cases. Although his style is not the most refined, his down-to-earth communication style gave me more confidence.
Here are some suggestions for sisters who are considering having eye surgery in South Korea:
- Consult several different clinics; don’t just focus on the price.
- Prepare high-definition photos of your eyes, including before-and-after comparisons.
- Make sure you know how to follow up for check-ups after returning home during the recovery period.
- Don’t just look at case photos; focus on those cases that have a foundation similar to your own.
